Faith communities, regeneration and social exclusion: developing a research agenda
CLED, Coventry Business School, Coventry University, Priory Street, Coventry CV1 5FB, UK. r.farnell{at}coventry.ac.uk
In the discourse and practice of regeneration in the UK there is a growing recognition that communities that define themselves primarily in relation to their faith have been ignored. This paper constructs a research agenda on faith communities, regeneration and social exclusion. It indicates the potential significance of research in this area as an aid to the development of conceptual frameworks for regeneration, to policy development and to better practice in neighbourhood renewal. There is a growing governmental concern to engage with faith communities. This should be informed by research to provide critical reflection on purposes and outcomes and to illuminate the practicalities of involvement.
